Throughout more than eight decades, the Geneva Motor Show has been where auto makers show off the best of which they’re capable. 2016 is no different for Jaguar in that respect, since it’s time for the long-awaited 2017 Jaguar F-TYPE SVR to take its first bow. The car represents a few things. Not only is it the latest addition to the Jaguar lineup, and a proud one at that; it’s also a “halo car,” the clear flagship for the Jaguar brand and a capable representation of the best the British company has to offer.

Details on the Jaguar F-TYPE SVR were scant when the car was first announced in a press release at the end of January. Now that the wraps are off, the car, and its specs, have come into clearer focus. The F-TYPE SVR calls to mind legendary Jaguar cars of years past, combining the effortless grace of the earlier E-TYPE with a touch of raw D-TYPE swagger.

It’s also drawn comparisons to the Jaguar XJ220, thanks to a powertrain that includes a 575 horsepower supercharged 5.0 liter V8 mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. In the coupe variant, that combination takes the car from zero to sixty in 3.5 seconds, and allows a top speed of 200 miles per hour; customers opting for a convertible will find the top speed trimmed to a still respectable 186 miles per hour, with a 3.9 second 0-60 time.

And lest we forget, it’s also got a titanium exhaust system, and comes equipped with all-wheel drive. In love yet? You will be. While we don’t have a delivery date for the 2017 Jaguar F-TYPE SVR, more information will be made available to our customers as we have it.
