The Jaguar I-PACE made news when it was revealed at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show. There was another preview on offer that we think was just as newsworthy. It’s a different take on the “concepts” usually debuted at auto shows: at the press event for the Jaguar I-PACE, the company revealed a virtual reality preview that, as far as we know, was the first of its kind. It’s not available at Jaguar Peabody — yet — but it has the potential to change how you shop for new Jaguar cars

The preview, which opened with a presentation from a virtual representation of Jaguar designer Jamie Callum, took place over VR headsets. Callum sketched out the contours and components of the Jaguar I-PACE, and then showed how it all fit together. Besides the bird’s-eye view of the new vehicle’s range, and detailed perspectives from the front and back seats of the vehicle, the VR showed its advantages from early on. The journalists in attendance were treated to views from inside the vehicle’s components as they worked.

Even though this technology is still in its early stages, it shows a lot of promise. Granted, a tour of the inner workings of a Jaguar Ingenium engine won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but for many people the ability to understand what makes their vehicle special on a deeper level is pretty significant.

Even though Jaguar Peabody can’t fit you with a VR headset for your next test drive, we can do something better: a test drive with the human touch. We’re here to answer your questions, and to give you the chance to put a 2017 Jaguar F-TYPE or Jaguar XF through its paces on the road. A virtual reality test drive, however nifty it may look, just can’t match that. Visit us today. Our showroom is located at 247 Newbury St. in Peabody, MA and we’d like to show you that reality behind the wheel of a Jaguar car has quite a bit going for it.
