There’s no substitute for being behind the wheel of a Jaguar F-TYPE. However, there are times you’d like to share the experience, and using GoPro cameras, many drivers do exactly that. A new application available soon on the 2018 Jaguar F-TYPE at Jaguar Peabody, promises to make it easier. So is Jaguar ReRun worthwhile?
As popular as action cameras like the GoPro are with some drivers, there’s a drawback: up to now, there really hasn’t been a way to just view the good parts. Someone would have to sit through an entire YouTube video, or the car owner could edit the footage down to the best bits.
What Jaguar ReRun does differently is combine telematics data chosen by the driver with the footage captured by the camera. It then uses that data to choose a logical set of edits, so that the footage can be shared straight out of camera with minimal intervention. If you’re the kind of driver who likes making their track day a social experience (or if you just like the bragging rights), this is an innovative way to bring others into the experience.
For right now, it’s only available on the 2018 Jaguar F-TYPE. However, if it proves to be popular, it’s likely that other cars in the Jaguar Peabody showroom will include the feature. It’s a niche app, to be sure, but it’s also useful enough (for a certain kind of driver) that it’s more than a gimmick.
